The mission of the Altar Guild of Holy Cross Church is fourfold in nature. Members of the group, also called Sacristans, as baptized, worshipping and communing Christians make a personal commitment to serve God by accepting responsibilities as,
1. Ministers of God,
2. Ministers of the people,
3. Ministers of the liturgy and
4. Ministers of the worship space.
Whether preparing the altar for worship, arranging flowers, polishing vessels, ordering supplies, cleaning wax from the pews, washing linens, or ironing vestments, the work of the altar guild is never a burden but always a privilege. It is a form of praise and an expression of joy. It stems from our gratitude for all God does for us, and is a natural response to God’s presence in our lives.
